Gillware Offers Data Recovery Assistance for Hurricane Irene Relief

MADISON, Wis. – Gillware will offer free hard drive evaluations, discounted data recovery and two months of free remote data backup to assist people and businesses damaged by Hurricane Irene and the resulting floods, company leaders announced today.

“One way we can help rebuild after a natural disaster is to get data back to the people who need it,” Gillware President Scott Holewinski said. “Our engineers have extensive experience with hard drives and other storage devices that have been damaged by floods, fires or power surges. Our goal is to help people rebuild and to prevent a data loss event from occurring altogether in the future.”

For any device affected by Hurricane Irene, Gillware is offering free evaluations of all storage devices, including solid-state drives, hard drives and RAIDs. Data recoveries for these devices will be discounted by $200 through November 1. Anyone who lost data as a result of the hurricane is eligible for two months of up to 5 gigabytes of remote data backup.

Gillware Remote Data Backup was developed through Gillware’s extensive experience as a leading data recovery laboratory. It allows its users to easily select which files and folders are automatically and routinely encrypted, compressed and sent to a secure SAS 70 data storage center. It is the best solution to prevent data loss due to on site disasters, such as fires and floods.

In response to natural disasters, Gillware most recently recovered data from drives damaged by tornadoes in Joplin, Mo. When seeking data recovery following a natural disaster, Gillware recommends the following:

  • Do not run power to a damaged drive
  • Do not take apart a hard drive or attempt to clean or dry it
  • Call Gillware a 877-624-7206 to speak to a technician with any questions

Gillware, which is based in Madison, Wis., is recommended by the largest computer manufacturer, Dell, and the largest hard drive manufacturer, Western Digital. To contact Gillware, call 877-624-7206 or visit www.gillware.com.

If only more users would take information recovery more seriously before they had a problem. They should be prepared for the worst before things happen, not after.
